My friend jailbroke his ipod and it was freezing on him for a long time. He lent it to me in one of my classes and it fell off my desk:shake: and now it won't turn on. Anyone know what i can do to fix it? Whether i can take it into an electronics store and pay for repairs, any suggestions would be amazing.

I think the only think you can do is hope that you're friend isn't easily prone to fits of anger, and hope that you've got a little extra cash to pay for repairs and/or a new Touch.
I don't mean to sound sarcastic, but if it's not even turning on then there's not a whole heck of a lot we can do here. You'll most likely need a specialist to look at it, but probably not Apple though...if they're able to get it to the point where it can power on, then they might stop once they find out it's been jailbroken. I could be wrong, but I believe jailbreaking voids the warranty.

Although jailbreaking voids the warranty, if they can't even turn it on, they're just going to exchange it for a new one PROVIDED of course that the damage wasn't due to neglect (as in this case). So, sounds like the warranty doesn't matter...

The employee at Best Buy (the one who sold me my iPod touch) specifically told me that neither the Apple nor the Best Buy warranty covers human damage (dropping it).

That's odd...when I bought mine, a Best Buy employee told me the BB extended warranty did cover drops. They said it covered just about everything except water damage. Well I better be extra careful with mine now...just in case...

Would i find a specialist at an electronics store or somewhere else?

Doubtful - these are tightly packed electronic components. I don't think there are many that could service them...

don't believe it. If you don't see it in writing.
Most best buy employees don't know their a$$ from their elbow, sorry to be blunt but that's the way it is, and if they don't know an answer they just bs their way through it. I am so amazed at how under-trained they are there, it's almost comical it is so bad.
If you drop your ipod and tell them that, it ain't covered.

No way! they make 6 dollars and hour so they have to be college educated, and everyone knows a 19 yr old employee knows everything about anything..

I don't think people expect best buy employees to know everything, but asking to be knowledgeable about warranties they try to push isn't asking for a lot. The truth is that employees do know about the warranty but they are told to lie to sell more of them. I was told this directly from a former employee.
