connection. I was at the Apple store today and while there, I downloaded three songs. Anyway, when I got home and opened the itunes software the songs don't exist. The thing is I was by an Apple store employee that the songs should show up as songs purchased - so I don't get it.
What version of iTunes do you have?
The songs should come up in a separate playlist in the store section of iTunes, but it only works for 7.4 onwards.
They should be in a "Purchased on <your ipod touch's name>" playlist.
I never had a problem with it.

did you buy the songs under your account? If you did they should show up on anything you log in to your account on. Did you get the order bill thing via email?

I'm confused: do they not show up on your computer, or your iPod? You did sync your iPod with the computer, correct?

I have the latest itunes installed. BTW, I just figured it out (thanks PG4G). I didn't think about selecting the "purchased" tab under devices. However, it's not allowing me to transfer the songs to my untitled unplayed list; the songs aren't showing up on itunes library either.
Ok.
Its on your device, as its on the iPod.
Try right clicking (or Control clicking on a mac) on the iPod icon and choosing "Transfer purchases" - Don't use the sync function cos there is still a small risk you may wipe your songs if you are not signed into iTunes with the same account (I'm not sure if this occurs, but don't take the risk, follow my instructions instead as they will be a risk free way of doing it.
That should detect them, and transfer them
They should pop up in the "Store" subsection in the sidebar, under "purchased on your iPod touch"

Cool, it worked. One minor quip, though, when I chose "transfer purchases," itunes transferred all previous songs I purchased on itunes (99 songs total); I was hoping it would only transfer the three songs I purchased at the store today. Thanks nonetheless.
Yeah
There is a simpler way, and it will only transfer those few songs across, and that is a direct sync.
If you are the only one who uses that itunes, and you only have one iTunes account, then you could just directly sync it.
I just avoided it, as I said above, because there was a small risk that as I didn't know your circumstances, and your version of itunes may have been logged onto another account, and it may have prevented sync. At the worst, it might have removed those songs. And so I was just making sure that you were garunteed not to lose the songs all together.
That is just an extra safe way i told you so that you avoided losing them completely (very slim risk , but I didn't want to take it! :D)
