I just received my Ipod Nano in the mail today, and I've had lots of fun messing around Itunes (never had an Ipod before, previously used Creative). I don't really want to scratch up the screen or mess up the back like my friends. What are some of the recommended ways to protect the Ipod Nano? or what are some of the cases/skins for it?

To me, the most important thing is to protect the screen. The colored front is pretty scratch resisitant, and the shiny back seems to scratch no matter whay you do; but scratches on the case don't interfere with function. Scratches on the screen do. You can get plastic "cling" covers that fit over the screen, don't interfere with its clarity and don't leave goo on the screen if you want to remove them.

I just bought a DLO clear case for my 3G nano. It doesn't protect the click wheel (which can get a little grubby with use), but it does cover the screen. It's not at all bulky. What's more, it has a "kickstand," so you can stand the nano up to watch video. I wouldn't want to watch a whole movie on it, but I love video podcasts.

check out the reviews section on this site. pretty much all the major cases are reviewed here. i ended up purchasing the power support crystal jacket set for my new ipod because it came with both the cling on film and the clear plastic case for the same price as most other plastic cases on their own.

I have a Belkin Remix Metal - I like it, some don't.

It's all down to personal choice, functionality, form factor and a myriad other things...

Would you guys be willing to recommend the Marware SportGrip or the SwitchEasy Silicon Biscuits (both $10). or should I invest more money into a case?

I have the Waterfield Designs 'Smart Case.' I love it. Not a play-through, but keeps the nano safe when I throw it in my bag, etc.

I have a cheap Griffith silicon case, it works but it attracts too many hairs, dust and strings. For the most part I like it.

I just bought the Iskin for my new Nano and love it. It comes with a belt clip and lanyard. Fits snug, everything covered yet all ports are accessible. I am very happy with it.
