So I have been using my iPhone with my new Alpine IDA-X100. Although its not an officially supported iPhone accessory, for the most part its been working very nicely & is convenient as it charges the iPhone and pauses songs when I get a call.
But there are a few glitches after using it for the past 2 weeks I notice.
One is that sometimes it takes forever for the Alpine to read the iPhone... then the Alpine would give up reading it and give an ERROR 01 or ERROR 03 message... and then most recently it actually ended up freezing the Alpine headunit all together... all I got was a loud buzzing sound through all my amped speakers and sub, the headunit would not shut off even when teh car was off, until it finally reset itself after holding down the headunits power button.
I think this may have to do with the iPhone itself... doing too many things at once causing it to crash... because prior to this I had been using the iPhone while plugged into the Alpine to play music, search an address on Google maps, check traffic, check email before I left the parking lot... maybe a software update could fix this glitch... or maybe I just shouldn't multitask too much with it. But for now I am just using my regular iPod with the headunit.
The only other minor thing I notice is that the audio quality of the iPhone vs regular iPod is just slightly not as good. And this is with both my Super.fi 4vi IEM's and over the Alpine HU... but something I can live with.
Just thought I would give an update on my experience so far with my new 16gb iPhone.
