Hello. I know absolutely nothing about these new portable music devices so I am seeking wisdom.

I am looking at the I-Pod Shuffle. This is what I need:

I ride a motorcycle and want some riding music. I only need a device for music. I want it to be able to play my music in a particular, preset order or to randomly shuffle through my songs. I will be burning CD's to my computer and then loading them on my I-Pod and downloading from an internet site. I will need a carrying case of some sort that I can attach magnets to so I can place it on my gas tank while riding. Will magnets mess with the device in any way? I will use the ear buds that come with it but will eventually want to insert some speakers into my helmet.

Is the I-Pod Shuffle what I want?

It might be illegal to operate a motor vehicle while using headphones depending on where you ride.

I don't know about the magnets, but other than that, the Shuffle will do everything else you mention in your post. Probably you will find that it's more convenient to clip the Shuffle to your clothing rather than attach to the bike.

I like to have the shuffle as close to the headphones as possible, so there is no long wire to snag. I clipped mine to the band of my headphones, with the extra wire neatly wrapped around the band. You might decide to clip it to your shirt collar or helmet strap.
