Unlocking an already AT&T activated iphone

Hi Peeps,

My friend is going to sell me his iphone but he already has it activated with AT&T. I'm on T-mobile. Is it possible for me to unlock his already activated iphone to use with my T-mobile sim card?

Yes, Restore the phone. Put in your t-mobile sim card. Then use ziphone to unlock and activate your phone.

what if i have an activated iphone through at&t (legit) and then i want to use a rogers sim when im in canada for 2 months? if i unlock will i lose the ability to get visual voicemail etc when i switch back to my at&t sim? will the registered at&t sim work after i unlock/jailbreak the phone?
