I'm considering buying an iPhone, but I think I read that if your running windows xp, you need sp2 for it. Currently I have a 5th gen ipod video 30gb. And I'm running sp1, not sp2. I know, I know, please don't tell me about the whole "you need to update to be safe crap" I have my reasons for not doing so, legal reasons mind you.

Anyhow, is it possible to use the iPhone with iTunes w/o sp2? I assume you could never sync it to your home pc and use just the wireless iTunes to download content, but say I wanted to move my songs and photos to it. Would I still need sp2?

Go to an Apple store or ATT store, ask the representative if the iPhone will work with Windows XP SP1, if they say yes (which is a high chance because they want to sell them), then buy it, and try it. If it doesnt work, you can return it without the restocking fee because they said it will work with WXP SP1 but it doesnt.

So give that a try.
