Just got my iPhone, and I've got a few questions.

1 - Can I send/recieve mms messages?
2 - Can I save pics from Safari?
3 - Can I modify the front screen (add/remove buttons like stock figures)?

Thanks all

DR

1. no
2. no
3. no, but you can move them. hold your finger on an icon to make them moveable, press the homescreen to make them non-moveable again. you can ban icons you don't want on a seperate homescreen.

sorry :-)

these things ARE possible if you jailbreak though (not sure about 2.)

You can do all of that stuff if you jailbreak your phone. I did.

Imap email is your best friend dark rain. Once you learn to use available functions and services on the web you will wonder why you ever relied on mms in the first place.

1) yeah, there are MMS applications. just look in the installer
2) MMS is not really a standard, and if you consider that you can send and receive emails from anywhere with the iphone it gets even more useless. that's why it was not implemented. I don't know why people are so upset about this. who needs MMS when you can just send and receive an email instead? and by now we know that you can send emails directly to peoples mobile phones, so what's the big deal?

Because other peoples phones cannot send emails. Its quite annoying when I receive an MMS from someone that I have to use a website to see it (one that doesnt always work correctly). Sure I can send them pics to their phone using email (which is also a pain because I have to set up secondary email addresses just to send to their phone), but they cant send them to me.

The whole point of MMS is someone is out somewhere and wants you to see something as it happens, since not everyone (not even 10% of everyone) has an iphone they cant email me the pic.

Jezzzzzzzz at least AT&T and Apple could make a clickable link from the text message to their Viewmymessage site that auto populates the info, its just a pain.

It's not a matter of their phones not being able to send email, you can MMS to any email in the world, so that is silly. And I agree, if you use push mail services, why is MMS needed, they didn't intend for this to a be a childs toy, it is for mostly grown users, who rely on email more than texts and use it for business purposes. Of all the iPhone users I have seen the average age is at least 27, I dont see many 16 years olds with iPhones, they get the Touch.......my .02

Please explain to my mom how to send an MMS to an email from her phone, she is lucky she can figure out MMS as a regular text.

Its not silly at all, most people do not have the email address of every single contact in their phone, its extra steps, and thats the point.

People forget that ease of use is paramount with non Tech people, we are a tech forum, we understand the work arounds, many people dont.

There were threads on this forum alone that friends of people on here who have iphones didnt even know they had to update them.

This is not a business phone (yet) a blackberry is a business phone. Its a multimedia phone.

Thats your opinion if you think MMS is for children only but I think most of the world disagrees.

Ever seen AT&T's own commercial where the father is texting pictures of his daughters stuffed animal to his wifes phone for her to see? Those werent emails.

I think you may be on a very high horse if because you dont use MMS and know work arounds its not a valid option that 90% of the phones in the US (world) use.

nearly all phones either have Internet access or email access now so this "because 99% of the world doesnt have iPhones" crap is BS. Also, setting up alternative emails for mms is hardly a pain, you do it once and its done. It shounds like you dont appreciate the iPhone very much because of its *few * shortcomings. If mms is really your thing get a crappy nokia phone.

Also, your mms descrepencies will surely be moot come June when numerous third party apps will undoubtedly fill this void.
