Accidental Mute when on Phone

Frequently when I am on a call, I accidentally will press the mute or hold on the phone with my head/face.

Has this happened to anyone else and if so, do you have ideas of how to not do this? (besides being more careful!)

normally the iphone has a built-in sensor so the screen automatically switches off when something is really close during a phone call. if yours doesn't do that I would send it in ;-)
the sensor is the line above the screen btw
