Hi there,
Have had my iPhone about 2 weeks now and am massively impressed wit the battery life it gives, especially as I can't leave it alone for 5 minutes without playing with it!
At night I leave it plugged into my Docking Station, so effectively it is being charged all through the night. Could this be harmful for the battery? Surely such an advanced peice of technology can detect when the battery is fully charged, and protect it from being 'overcharged'.
Thanks
James

I leave my phone on charge overnight almost every night and I've suffered no ill effects from it. I've had mine since November.

for the iPhone the best battery care is as follows:
Charge nightly, no matter what level the battery is.
Charge using the USB power pack, not a computer
Charge without wifi or Bluetooth enabled.
And to answer your question, yes the iPhone battery will stop charging when it is at full capacity.

Why charge it every night? I only charge it when it needs to be charged, I see no reason to charge it every night.

Because Li-Ion batteries prefer frequent shallow charges, rather than deep charges.

Exactly. You can actually do worse for your battery by not charging daily. It might seem like the battery is benefiting, but in the long run it isn't.

It is however worth doing a full discharge/recharge cycle once in a while. Once a month or so is probably about right.

Only to keep the battery gauge(software wise) more accurate.
