Hey guys,
I am stuck in a situation and I don't know what to do. On my B-day I told my parents I want to get an Iphone but instead they got me and Ipod touch 32gb. They bought this from Best Buy. And now I am thinking of returning my Ipod Touch with original receipt and everything to Best Buy for full refund. Not Store Credit or anything...just cash...so I can buy an Iphone with that refund money. I've told my parents about this and they don't mind returning this and getting and Iphone. But for this to happen, I don't know what to tell the Customer Service reps at the Best Buy. What should I say to get my full refund?:o
Please Help!!! I only have 10 days to return it.

I believe Best Buy has a no questions asked satisfaction guarantee, at least they do in Canada. You can return items for an exchange or a refund as long as you are with in 30 days. You do not need an excuse, just tell them the truth, you are returning it so you can get an iPhone.
I don't think Best Buy charges a restocking fee either, at least I have not payed one yet.

You might want to call them. I know on some electronics they only give store credit after 15 days. This was the case on a GPS I bought, not sure about ipod's but it might be worth calling.

This is why he said that he only had 10 days.
But anyways, yes more than likely Best Buy is going to charge you I believe 15% for the restocking fee. This is why you see "open items." They have either been opened and returned or used within the store, by the store. (I saw plenty of open item iPods after Christmas.) So either way, a customer is getting ripped and Best Buy still comes out ahead. Best Buy then resells the item with about a 7% discount I am pretty sure. I'd personally return it rather than put it on eBay though. On eBay new ones are only bringing about $425.
Also consider before you switch to an iPhone, that I am pretty sure the service provider does NOT offer insurance on the phones. Too expensive of a phone in my eyes to risk throwing $500.00 away!

My BB here has no restocking fee. But I do think anything over $300, they'll refund you by check if you paid cash. Just tell them it wasn't a right purchased. They won't recline you.

i returned my touch in december. no restocking fee or anything. just told them it didn't work with my operating system.
And it won't work with your operating system, either, parth6512, as the system in which you choose to use this device is a system of operation including a phone section. The touch doesn't take its place in this system. Therefore it doesn't work with your system. It doesn't work with your operating system. You aren't lying :p

If it's defective there is no restocking fee.
Generally if it isn't open, there is no restocking fee.
IT's if it is open and you decide to just "return it" that a restocking fee sometimes comes into play.

I've also never had any type of restocking fee in my Best Buy in Canada. I like returned 4 of the earphones i bought there that i didn't like and got a refund and bought another one. Even the employee there told me that I have nothing to lose to buy a pair of earphones I'm not sure of because if I don't like them I can easily just return them.

In the US, you have 30 days and no restocking fees. There are exceptions (computers, digital cameras, etc...) that don't apply in this case.
Just check the retailer's website.

look on the back of your receipt. You have 30 days to return. You may be in the 14 day return time line, but it says computers cameras ec.. I would bet iPods would be on the 14 day list. You will also be charged a 15% restocking fee to a tune of $75 off $499. If its unopen you should get a full refund, but I know you've been playing with your touch.

So this is how false rumors get spread. I can't believe the majority of this thread is so off.
NO YOU ARE NOT GOING TO HIT ANY RESTOCKING FEE, NOR SHOULD THEY GIVE YOU TROUBLE.
OPENED OR UNOPENED YOU WILL GET A FULL REFUND. IF THEY PAID IN CASH AND IT WAS OVER I BELIEVE AROUND 300, THEY WILL MAIL A CHECK.
I RETURNED MY OPENED 16 GB AND WENT TO BUY A 32GB ONLINE, NO QUESTIONS ASKED.
lol @ most people in this thread telling him he will hit a restocking fee...like you guys HOPE he will.
Idiots don't know policy...smh.
iPods are on the 14 day list?
How about you actually look at the list before you make false comments.
