Okay, I'm really serious about jailbreking my iPod. So, I'm thinking about buying a wireless router, since I can't jailbreak without wi-fy. Does anyone know if a broadband wireless router would work with a dail up connection and phone line?

it has been my experience that it is possible to use a dial up connection with a wireless router. I found this out because a while back my DSL wasn't working properly, and I had to use a back up dial up connection for my computer. I turned my touch on and it found the network and it was able to use it. It was much slower than what I was used to though, as was expected. So the answer to your question is yes.

A wireless router that is compatible with dial-up? Well, wireless routers don't have the ability to dial in to dial-up networks. They do not contain any type of technology that allows for this. You can make a wi-fi network using a computer that is on a dial-up network. You can connect to a dial-up network using a computer with a wi-fi card, then tell the computer to emit a wi-fi signal. Your iPod touch can then connect to that wi-fi signal.

well thats basically what I had to do. I have bellsouth and my router (linksys) does all of the connecting to the DSL line automatically. I used the same line from the DSL to connect to the dial up. It is what bellsouth uses as another option for their customers when DSL fails. It just uses the same line. So, I really didn't change anything on my router, it just connected to bellsouth dial up instead of the DSL. This was on the computer with the hard wired line on it too, which made it connect with dial up. All it did then was just use the router to broadcast that signal. Hope that clairifies things.

Yes they do, although rare these days. I believe a version of the Apple Airport has a dial-up port.
