how to add events in the Calendar?

It seems a dumb question... I know...
but I got an iTouch with Firmware version 1.1.1. and I don't see how to add events into the calendar (when I open the calendar I cannot see anywhere a + or add new event button).
Does anybody know how to do it?

I tried to update my firmware to a later version but every time I get the 1604 error.
Any hint how to solve the problem will be appreciated.

1.1.1 doesn't have the ability to add calender events. so you better get the update working, you should do that anyway.

What version of iTunes are you running? You should be using 7.5 or later.

Apple also has "Error 1604 When restoring iPhone in iTunes" (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=307007) which should apply to the touch too.

I also found "iPod Touch Error: 1604" (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6793093) on Apple's Discussions which also may have a solution.
