Is anyone here a subscriber to the Minneapolis city wide wifi? How is it working with your iPod Touch or your iPhone? I suspect that if you've got a iPhone you wouldn't bother with paying the extra cash on the citywide, since you're already paying ATT for that kind of connection.
I'm trying to decide if I want to sign up for it, but I just need to be sure that it works with my iPod first.

Can you give some more information on the citywide wifi.
It should work, unless they are using some fancy security connections. The new 802.11.x or whatever security is yet to be compatible with the touch/phone. Also I'm not sure about VPN connections, I have no experience there.
If it's just a basic login sign up, should be no issues.
Going to their homepage it looks like they will be using the enterprise 802.11.x security. I don't think the iPhone/Touch wifi is yet compatible with this, but think the 2.0 update will give that ability. (touch/phone users, please correct me if I am wrong).
The 2.0 update for the touch will likely have a fee to unlock all new features.

The reason that there isn't city wide wifi in Miami is because there's too many old people that don't want just dump stuff on their internets like it's a truck. Afterall it is a series of tubes.
Studogvetmed, it looks to me like you got it right. I better hold off on subscribing until I can establish that it will work. Thanks for looking into it!

The first 2 sentences apply more to Minneapolis. LOL
And all those redneck parts.
Miami is so popular and busy that there should be city-wide wifi!

Park yourself outside a Brueggers Bagles or Caribou Coffee store. You can get free Wifi from these spots. There is a Caribou store on practically every corner in Mpls.
Touch since Xmas--- No problems!!!

I live in Texas and there is a small town close to me that gives free wifi to their residence and charges $10 for businesses. They are using 802.11 b.g .....The time is coming where wifi will be everywhere.

The time is coming where wifi will be everywhere.
Great for your town, but your extrapolation is a bit premature.
Earthlink was gonna wire up San Francisco (Silicon Valley, if any place...) then lo&behold they said never mind! It turns out they found out the expense don't justify the benefits (to their business), not to mention the obvious opposition from the current cable/DSL providers.
Am thinking eventually 6G or whatever is good enuff and overtake WIFI for everywhere access.

So we can post our political opinions on steve jobs and apple financial practices, but as soon as we post our political opinions on something else the post get deleted.
This is biased censorship. Please be sure to keep the playing field fair even if the political redoric is not to your personal taste.

This board is about iPods, not US politics.
If we can stay on topic, the thread can stay open, even though the threads original purpose has been completely filled.
