Hallelujha! Finally, someone with some long term praise for the Touch. In my mind it's been perfect for it's intended use since day one. Welcome!

I loved my touch so much I bought an iphone and now the wife loves her touch. I cant think of another bit of kit that made my jaw drop quite so much.

Makes me feel dirty about some of my past purchases such as the Nokia N770. *shudder*

Hi,my first post here although I've lurked a long time.

I'd just like to say how much i love my Touch,I initially wanted an iphone but received an itouch for xmas and I'm still amazed at my little toy,I downloaded the additional software for it,bought it accessories and learn something new about it every day!

While i haven't given up on getting an iphone, the touch is keeping me very happy.

Just too funny.

I plan on getting a iPhone in May so I can't wait to finally get to see the touch screen at work.

I am sure the touch has converted many, such as myself! I love my iPhone now.
And I still use my touch more, especially around the house, the room to room wifi access is just too great! ;)

And coming from me where I used to hate ppl who had ipods and so..... I was a Creative guy who hated ipod users lol but now I love both of em and the touch is on top of my list right now....

Eventually I would like to get a Mac desktop once I pay off my HDTV. I just love how crisp and clear the screen is and how smooth the OS system runs!!!

This is not intended to start an argument but I just picked up a new Nokia N800 with 2 8GB SD cards for about 100-150 less than the Touch (I have several ipods including the Classic which I really like). I was looking at the Touch but will wait for the iphone to be released in Canada. In the meantime - in a side by side comparison, the N800 stacks up pretty nicely - I have done enough research to know the flaws of the 770 and the old OS2007 which have pretty much been fixed. I didn't go with the Nokia just for the price but because I can do more with it now.

The screen is phenomenal - The Touch is very good though.
The browser is every bit as good as the Touch version of Safari IMHO - ordinary web pages are more usable
Flash 9 is supported
Bluetooth for external keyboard or connection to cell phone, etc. if you like
The WiFi performance is stronger in terms of signal strength (range)
Better support of media file types

There is no doubt the UI on the Touch is superior but it doesn't do anything the N800 can't (at least that I need).

BUT for the future....

Now that Apple has finally woken up and published an SDK and abandoned their stupid "browser apps only" position, I expect that develpment of future applications for the Touch and iPhone will very quickly outstrip app dev for the Nokia - but I think in part you can thank Nokia (and others) for that outcome. So probably come next winter, when the next gens are released, better software is developed and IF the iphone ever makes it to Canada, I will go in that direction

Yes, but you got a Nokia phone right? And you bought two seperate cards right? So that means switching cards if you want to listen to something and it's not on the current card. I find that alone to probably be so annoying, to switch like that, to each his own I guess. But this Nokia is a phone correct? What price rate are you comparing this to, the 299 8gb or the 599 32gb? So you're saying this nokia is better than the iPhone? Did they lower the price because you signed a contract? I don't know, IMO, all cellphones prior to the iPhone are relics like Jackie Gleason, future Nokia's may rock, but I don't know, the iPhone is the phone to have...sorry canada! But hey, when Google releases Android OS to companies, maybe Nokia can make something that can hang with the iPhone in my opinion. regardless I love my touch and iphone, I literally sleep with them in bed! (dont be naughty, I just use them right before I sleep) :)

I don't know if I'm amazed, but I can say I can't do without it. If it was taken from me I would get a new touch right away. Its funny because i was a zune guy. This is my first ipod and won't be my last. My brother got a 8gig touch let me play with it, and I was sold. The funny thing is I use it more for web and video then for music. Alto it won't replace my pc its a good subsitute.

No it does not have phone capability and you don't need a Nokia phone to pair it to if you want to use your phone for web access instead of WiFi, any BT phone will work. It does have a very slick Skype application so you can make web calls over WiFi - supports VOIP. It supports 2 cards installed at the same time which gives it 16GB with 2 8 GB cards installed - you can go higher if you want, so I was comapring it to the 16GB Touch wrich is more "apples to Apples" (pun intended) not the iphone - As I indicated overall it has a better screen - the Touch is excellent though and more functionality but the UI is not as good. It also has decent built in speakers and mic plus a web cam (which for some reason does not capture stills, But supports video chat

Bad news - it doesn't have sync function (for those who need it) so you have to copy and organize your files and ultimately as I indicated earlier, Apple will have better apps down the road and the iphone is the best "all in onw" solution but currently the hardware is really good and the web browser is excellent, so compared to the Touch it is competitive.
