My Ipod is locked and says "ipod disabled connect to itunes". My room mate was screwing with me ipod over the weekend and tried to break into my Ipod. At any rate now it won't let me and Itunes won't recognize it. Now I have done some online research on this and it looks like I need to plug my ipod into the original computer it was synced too but I have been using my step mothers computer since mines was stolen making it impossible to actually sync it to the original computer. I didn't sync my touch to my step moms computer because I didn't want to lose all my music but it looks like all signs are pointing to me having to restore the Ipod to factory settings.. . :(
I know pose this question to the Ipod genius' on the forum.....
How do you restore a locked Ipod with out being able to sync it to the original computer?
I have a 8gb touch, using the most current Itunes, and Windows XP. Any suggestions?
Put into restore mode, and it will ask you to connect to the computer, and then you can use the restore function in iTunes
To put into that mode, disconnect the iPod from your computer. Now, Press the home button, and the sleep/wake button together for 6 seconds or so, until the iPod goes dead from its locked mode and then an apple appears. As the apple appears let go of the sleep wake button but continue holding the home button until it shows your ipod connector cable and an iTunes symbol

I tired what you suggested PG4G and it didn't work for me. I will try it a couple more times and Musika thanks for the program. I never knew it existed
Yeah, I tried it and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt
Ok, got it to work. Turn off your iPod by holding the sleep button and use the red slider.
Wait for it to go off
Now, hold the home button down, and then connect the dock connector into your computer already running iTunes.
That apple & connector screen will show, and apple will prompt you "this iPod is in recovery mode, and cannot be synced to iTunes till it is restored"

Ok Now I am at school using a mac and i am at the screen with the picture saying connect to Itunes and its connected but it hasn't recognized to restore
Now that means that its a major problem. Get apple onto it if you can't restore it in recovery mode. They may owe you a few new iPod. :p

Might just be an issue with the Mac's at your school. Might have them locked down to turn off auto-run or recognition. Try it at home before you try the Apple Store... Oh, and Findley Designs has a tool to download music from your iPod Touch too. However, for some reason I'm not sure if you can use any of the tools while your iPod Touch is locked down...
Thanks for the help there

yeah well this problem still hasn't been resolved. Am I the only one that ever has been through this
No, probably not. I haven't, but just try it on another computer, not the schools ones, and if you still have a problem, go to the store you bought it from. That means its a big issue, and 1 year warranty covers that.

Thanks for all your help! I got the ipod to finally restore thanks to one of my friends that actually works at the mac store. he did everything that PG said I should do but for some reason it just didn't work for me. I guess because I was using the school computers...
