With all this anticipation, there better be some killer apps with this SDK release or it's liable to be a disappointment to a lot of people...

I'd be surprised if Apple didn't have at least one app to wow us with. My guess is that most of the apps we will see though will be the ones from the developers that Apple decided to bring in who were already working on apps for the jailbreakers. I think Apple knows its under pressure to deliver something that is going to make us say, "wow" because they need as much attention as they can get to bring in programmers to create for the device. The ipod touch is an amazing piece of hardware, all that its missing is the software to use the touch to its full potential.

I won't cheer until I know what they charge for the apps. if they want $5 per app from me (and I guess it will even be more) they can stick the SDK up their ... forget it :D
I just hope the SDK itself is free of charge, I want to get into cocoa and start writing own apps.

I hear the angry marching footsteps of those who will be a little tad overly grumpy about having to pay for apps again....This is going to be a fun time, I hope Slingbox comes out with some APP, I have too much on my Tivo I just can't watch :)

I can't wait for some nice games. I bet iPhone/Touch can do games at least as good as PSP. So maybe they will make a blue tooth controller and we can play some tight games.

That Bluetooth controller would come in handy with my non-bluetooth touch ;)

Heh, Mr. Jobs is going to make him self and other's money any way he can...obviously, he has shown it with this Touch. I bought Sony's little bluetooth adapter they make for the iPod, but too bad it won't connect with my phone!!!! ARGHHHHHHHHH :shake:
It kind of sounds to me like apple is really trying to work with the community on this project, though they find it difficult being such a secretive company.
Still, kudos for trying
Despite all the wingers, I definately want iTunes-synced applications.
Reasons: because I want Apple to be responsible for any problems an app causes. If it's iTunes checked for OS X Touch, and it stuffs mine, tough titties, thats their problem.
Also, makes the concept of the iPod / iPhone more integrally tied to iTunes and therefore less vulnerable (if apple restrict access to the touch's OS to only through iTunes, they protect others from finding ways to circumvent the security of the device - don't tell them how to hack into it, just add things on it)
And a price for an app I know will serve me well over the crappy releases from so many 3rd party ventors? I'll pay for the confidence.

Well, you'd find out more if you searched.
Long story short - it means Apple is opening up the platform (to a limited degree) to outside developers for more native applications.
