main benifits for jailbreaking your touch?

ok for a complete novice, can someone tell me the keys pro for doing this?

also if it all goes #### up, can i just restore my ipod to its factory state?

i have read about the touch not having the same mail feature like the iphone is this true?

Okay first, search always, it's your best friend.

Second, go to the hack and mods forum, you'll get better answer and many posts regarding this...

But the advantages/disadvantages of jailbreaking are totally what you make of them.

1. Lots and lots of free/open-source applications (everything from solitaire to a web server - search on it). Access to the file system to make any changes you want (e.g., change fonts, icons, backgrounds, etc.).

2. Yes, all it takes is a simple force restore and you're back to the default factory settings in less than 10 minutes...

3. The iPod Touch originally didn't include the Mail application (or Notes, Weather and Stocks). However, Apple changed that in January.
