I'm close to running out of space on my iPod and iwas considering reripping my songs to save space. For all u audiophiles, what format/encoder gives the best quality for the file size. I have shute e4cs.

does anyone know what gives better quality for the same file size: LAME or aac? And also at what bit rate would it be indistinguishable from cd quality with premium headphones?

Really depends on your headphones. I couldn't tell the difference in anything better than 128mp3 till i got me some grados. now i use hi quality vbr mp3.
