Okay I bought a 15G's,came with a firewire cable,but I can't connect with that I need a USB 2.0 cord.
Okay I went to Apple store and bought a iPod Dock Connector to USB 2.0 + FireWire.DUH now I realize that I don't have a DOCK.

Will that cord connect to my iPod without the Dock ? If not I will be ####ed.I don't want to spend another 20 bucks for it.

Thanks

Don't worry, you don't need the dock. The USB cable will connect to the port on the bottom of your iPod (it's all in the User's Guide that comes with the iPod).

Thought id post my question here instead of starting another post.

I'm just wondering if the usb-to-ipod cable will charge the ipod? I lost the firewire-to-ipod connector my gen3 10gig ipod came with, and I'm thinking of replacing it with a usb cable. Mainly because my computer has a usb 2.0 port at the front.

This is the cable the apple website offers. oh one more very important thing: i need to use my ipod on both pc AND mac (to transfer files). id been doing this with the firewire cable, and i need to know if the usb-to-ipod cable will work on the mac? the site says its pc only, but im assuming it should still work as a hard drive on a mac (but not in itunes). am i right in assuming this?

I'm also a little unsure if it?s a usb-to-ipod cable, or a converter (thus requiring the firewire-to-ipod cable aswell).

Any help would be really appreciated.

It's both a USB AND firewire cable. It has the dock connector at one end and USB and firewire connectors coming out of that. How it is meant to be used is that you connect the USB plug into your PC for file transfers and connect the firewire plug into your AC adapter to charge the iPod. Both of these connections can be connected at the same time so you can both charge and sync at the same time.

I'm almost certain that the same cable could be used to connect to a Mac and I would think it would work with iTunes on Mac as well. If you just use the firewire part of the cord, it should act just like the standard firewire cord that comes with the iPod.
