Small caller pictures only?

hi there,
I'm wondering if it is somehow possible to have only small pictures of the person who calls. I figured out that you get large pictures if you take a picture made with your iphone and assign it to a contact and that you get small images if you sync over from outlook. but I'm not really using outlook and I don't intend to. I would if there is no other way but I wondered if there is another way to get the icons to show smaller. Maybe by accessing and changing some file if the iphone is jailbroken?

Can someone help me out?
I really liked the way the caller image was shown when I saw the iphone commercials, because most phones show big images over half of the screen and I hate that - and now I find out that the iphone does the same if you take pictures made with the iphone camera -_-

You'll have to use Outlook once as that's currently the only way to do it.

well, ok, so some questions: (I get my iphone on monday and want to do everything right right from the start, sorry if I question a lot :D)

1) If I take a picture on the iphone I can sync it to my computer then assign it to a contact in outlook and there I go, right?

2) When I have created a contact in outlook with name and picture only and add/change information (besides the picture) on the iphone my picture will stay small, won't it?

3) When I create a contact on the iphone, then sync it to outlook and add a picture in outlook, what happens then?

don't know if someone can answert those question since most people probably don't care about the image size, but I really like the small ones a lot more than the big ones, so it's kind of important to me :D
I find it strange that there are two different display-methods anyway and if there are why we can't choose one or another.

1) Yes, that should work to create the thumbnail picture caller id.
2) Yes, the only way it changes is if you change the picture on the phone.
3) The picture id should sync to the contact on the phone, as the thumbnail view.

FWIW, I also found it strange that the 2 methods of picture id assignment would work differently. I like to have the choice, but would prefer it to be a setting to select, not a method to select. For me, I generally have people as my wallpaper, and don't use custom ringers, so actually prefer the full screen picture id as it's easy to tell with hardly a glance who's calling. Then again, when I'm making a call, I'd prefer to have the thumbnail picture since the full picture is covered by other things anyway. Ah well.
