Firstly hi I'm new to all this modding so help would be great apprciated.
Thing is i have a Unlocked 1.1.1 iphone (u.s) and i'm in uk using a o2 payand go sim.
I've changed the EDGE settings to the o2pay and go mms settings but its charges me over £1 to load a page on safari! any ideas what to do?
Also
when i recieve a text it doesnt desplay the name (before selecting View/ignore) it says there number i.e +44012345678910 any idea how to fix it?
Plus is it worth upgrading to 1.1.2 or 1.1.3?

Firstly, as you have found out, data isn't cheap! My advice would be to go with a SIM only contract. The advantage of this over a normal contract is that you only have to give about 30 days notice to cancel if you don't like it. The problem with O2 is that they only seem to do unlimited data on the iPhone. The best deal at the moment seems to be T-Mobile SIM-only with web-n-walk. This gives you unlimited data for about an additional £7 a month. This is what I use and it works great. Vodafone also has something similar but with a 120MB limit every month for £7.50. I have never checked whether I use that much a month but it is nice to know you have unlimited so you don't have a shock when the bill comes through. The EDGE setting for T-Mobile are general.t-mobile.uk user: user pass: user
Regarding texts. 1.1.2 onwards fixes that. I orignally had an 1.0.2 iPhone (US). Upgrading from 1.1.1 to 1.1.2 and then to 1.1.3 is relatively easy. Just follow these simple steps http://iphone.unlock.no/#how-to-jailbreak-1.1.2-and-1.1.3 . Make sure you read the instructions clearly, each step is important. As you are from the UK I think 1.1.2 onwards is very worth it, 1.1.1 is still very American whereas 1.1.2 onwards fixes the problems with UK networks.
I really recommend going to a forum such as ModMyiFone.com . Or sites such as iphone.unlock.nu. Don't get me wrong, this forum is great, but it is not really specialised in the whole unlocking hacking thing, whereas a place like modmyifone lives for it lol.
