I have been trying for a while now in setting up the Mail on my Touch and just having no luck. I was hoping to get some help from iLoingers. I use Cox Webmail which is a site just like Hotmail... In being web based email. Any help in figuring this out will be greatly appreciated.

Go to settings - mail - add account - other. Select POP at the top. Enter information for your account. I hope this is right.

Do they only use webmail? If so, you might need to get a service like Izymail to get your mail. Otherwise, you'll need to contact your ISP and get their login info. You're looking for (preferably) an IMAP account info (POP if not). You'll also need the SMTP server info.

newbie to this forum - the issue here, i THINK, is hotmails method of assigning servers. the server name comes up as a very long string and I'm pretty sure its an alias. at any rate, you effectively cannot load the server name into the mail client, to my knowledge. I hope I'm wrong.
I noticed on gmail, initially I got an error, but then it started working correctly.... not sure what happened there, but it works ok for gmail.
That may be true for hotmail, but just because someone is using webmail doesn't mean there's not a POP/IMAP version of it available to it's customers. Really have to check with the provider to verify if they have that capability or not.
Even though this is for the iPhone it also works for the iPod Touch.

I wonder how many "pre-selected" domain names they have on their database. Information on Cox is there (assuming it's xxx@cox.net) so it may be helpful for the OP.
