I have just bought my first ipod - 32GB touch - which I would like to use at home with Safari, You tube etc
I currently run a PC on a cable modem (was ntl now virgin) and do not have a wireless router.
I do have a Nintendo Wi-Fi USB connector that works fine for the WII and the DS my kids use.
Can I connect the ipod touch in a similar way with this Nintendo device. Is there a similar device (usb dongle type thing) that I can purchase to connect the touch wi-fi.
I could always go down the wirless router route but haven't needed to do that till now.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Andy

Your Nintendo wi-fi adapter should work just fine. Keep in mind that you may want to purchase a wireless router in the future, that way you don't have to rely on a computer being turned on for your wireless internet to work. That and a wireless router can probably create a stronger signal than a small USB dongle.

I am struggling getting the touch to connect with the Nintendo usb device. Any ideas. It does not appear on the list of available wi-fi connections on the touch. It only shows two neighbour's wireless networks that require passwords.
Thanks for any advice

What type of wi-fi connection is it emitting (802.11a, 802.11b, or 802.11g) and how close are you to the unit? If your wi-fi adapter emits a general wi-fi signal then everything should be fine. Look in the product's manual to see what type of connections it is capable of emitting.

the nintendo dongle won't work...it only works with nintendo products (i'm about 95% sure of that)
you would probably better off getting a router...they're only about fifty bucks...i looked around and there didnt seem to be an easy solution for a wifi usb dongle

Then it really isn't a wi-fi adapter now is it? The makers of that product (don't know who) should not advertise it as a wi-fi adapter and should advertise it as something else (such as a online adapter for the Nintendo Wii and DS).

Can the PS3 also act as a router? I have a router but I was wondering if I could cheat and hook the PS3 to the 360 instead of buying extra accessories. (I'm typing this on a Macbook using wi-fi)
Edit, nevermind, it can't.
To the OP, you can get a really good router for $60, which is what ours cost. A Belkin high speed router with 700 foot range and my door is closed, I'm two floors up, and it's working perfectly.

Hi, Thanks to all for their input. I am going to go for the router option. Please can I just check with any of you experts, will a Buffalo WZR2-G300N (http://www.ebuyer.com/product/131028) provide me with what I need. I have a virgin cable modem service in the UK Thanks

You don't need a 802.11n wireless router unless you actually have computers that support the n standard. You can probably save yourself some money and just get a standard 802.11b/g router. The router in your link will do just fine though.
