Audio CD's that my CDplayer reads but PC won't

all of my audio CD's (even copy protected) work & rip fine on my PC, except 1 - Metallica S&M - my PC won't even acknowledge it's in the drive. anyone else come across the same results with any other cd's? it's puzzled the hell out of me how they've done it.

yep it's some sort of protection against piracy, try Exact Audio Copy: www.exactaudiocopy.de

Sometimes I've seen that EAC can do what other rippers can't.

I encountered a similar problem with Tool - Aenima.

Both hardware and software can make a significant difference. In addition to EAC, try to get access to a plextor drive; they seem to be much more successful in allowing digital extraction.

strange, i have that and mine rips fine. guess it depends where and when you bought it.

i'll try the whole marker pen thing and see what happens
