New Touch.....With a Dead Pixel

Ok....

I just picked up the 32gb touch. Im messin around at night.....and have a scene that comes up with a black frame......and BAM....one dead pixel. You can only notice it when the touch is viewed horizontally rather than vertically. Is this something that I should take back to Apple tomorrow? I dont know that they would replace the whole thing for one dead pixel that 99% of most people wont be able to see.

i don't have a touch (yet) but i would definitly try to...i hate defective things, and if it doesn't bug you that much i guess not...but i don't know if dead pixels spread or not..

I did try a stuck pixel page i found here on the lounge to fix it. It didnt seem to work at all. It suggested that i run the program for at least 15 minutes and thumb out the problem. that didnt work and lightened some of the other pixels. Its just one...and i dunno....im just afraid of returning it for something that might be worse.

well if you do get one thats worse, and i don't think you will, just return it again and that time start complaining how a $500+tax ipod should be working perfectly...plus not many have said they have gotten horrible 32 gig touches

I think part of the problem is that dead pixels are not technically considered a "defect" unless there are a certain number of them. It also depends on the company, some are more stingy than others about dead pixels, but some companies have no problem accepting a return with even just one dead pixel. I have no idea what Apple's warranty on dead pixels is.

When you buy something as expensive as an ipod touch though, whether that be the 8, 16, or 32, I know you want it to be perfect. If you're like me you're probably looking at that dead pixel right now and thinking, "[expletive]". I say stop stressing out over it and go at least try to return it. If you're like me you might feel a bit embarrassed about complaining about it, but don't. You just dropped a lot of cash on this thing and for this type of money I don't think its too much to ask for a product that works and looks perfect out of the box. Don't take any crap from any employees if they try to give you any either. Don't be rude, but understand that you're the customer.

I'll give ya my two cents. I bought my first iPod touch from best buy and it had two dead pixels. I took it back, the next one had three dead pixels. I recently took it back to exchange it for the larger capacity one, this one has one dead or stuck pixel.
So my point is, these are pretty common. If you want a perfect one then you should open it and check it out right there in front of the store employee. Personally, I'm giving up. At least my one dead pixel is off to the side of the screen where I can't see it that much.

I thought about it...I have only one..and its not even that noticable. Im gonna hold onto the ipod for a week...see if it bugs me....goes away..or gets worse...then exchange as needed

Since they came out I must have been through 10 iPod touches, the most recent one I got is a 32 gb, all the others were 16. every single one of them has had stuck pixels. Advice: quit while you're ahead (at one) and stop trying.

Well after lounging around the forum for about a month now I pulled the trigger and ordered mine from amazon. Sounds like I should be happy to recieve one with only one dead pixel.

If you look hard enough you'll 100% find one - as I said - I've dealt with over 10 of these things now and they all have them. It wasn't a "bad batch" either because I've gotten them since last september! They're not noticeable at first but once you're in a dark room and turn the brightness up it pops up at you if you have decent eyes.
