Folks,
I've been to the Apple store 3 times, most recently last night -- AmEx always in hand--, fondled the heck out of an iPhone, and yet, invariably, I arrive home empty-handed. You see, I popped for a Classic back in October (which is with me always), and now, I'm having a heck of a hard time trying to wrap my head around owning both.
This is not a "what should I do" type of posting. It's more like thinking aloud. Yes, I know I could sell the Classic, but call it a weird attachment or whatever, I'm just not ready to part with it. The music library comes in at about 13 gigs; only 12 gigs are free, mostly per TV, movies and podcasts. I can live with just the music and some photos on the iPhone, so that's not the problem. Indeed, I even purchased The iPhone Book a month or so ago, read it through, to be sure I comprehended nuances before making the purchase.
What mostly pulls me to the iPhone:
1) no longer missing calls, a standard/irritating problem currently with my Razr, despite vibration mode (I've already pinpointed an iPhone headphone adapter; I play the Classic either thru the built-in ipod adapter in the car radio, or use my Er-4P buds, depending mostly on whether the convertible top is up or down)
2) access to the Net, whenever and wherever, be it via cell or WiFi (dearly missed since I gave up my Treo 680, after a long line of Blackberries and other Treos)
3) Treo was too dang big to slide into a pocket, and cases made it even bulkier, so I didn't carry it faithfully which pretty much defeated my purposes in buying the thing; by contrast, I see the iPhone is as easy to carry as my Classic
I think of syncing both the iPhone and Classic, and "hassle" immediately invades my thinking (Vista Ultimate/32 bit-- no problems to date re ipod syncing; I know about the special iTunes setting so it will play nice with all devices). Likewise, now, I reach for the Classic without thought. Will I be confronted with stutter mode if an iPhone lands here? (as she walks toward the door >>> "um, iPhone! ... No, er, Classic ...")
Soooooooooooo, with all that said, one question: to those who own both an iPhone and iPod (whether Classic, Nano or what have you) --- on a day to day basis, how are you dealing with both devices?? Obvously, if I'm about to drive somewhere, it's the iPhone/buds/headphone adapter. But otherwise, which do you use when, and why?
I'd really appreciate some food for thought here! (Already with AT&T, so no switching concerns)
