Hello. I'm not slightly undecided, but I need owners' opinions of iPods.
I'm new in this world of the iPod, I LOVE more the iPod that the cheap imitations or MP3 players out there.
Me and my father think to send someone who can buy it in the United States, or a Touch or Nano of 8GB.

My father it's not that good, he can't be bad with me if I buy the Nano (which is very small to project a good video), but that can take music, photos, videos and extras (but it's very small, and it is cost a lot for a little small object), I know that it's for a pocket size, but the temperament of my father is slightly doubtful, the price of the Nano is 200 $ or more.

On the other hand, the iPod Touch 8Gb has all that, his screen is bigger, it is possible to go online because of the Wi-Fi, watch videos on YouTube, I can touch the screen to handle it. So, which you can recommend me? The price of the Touch is $300.

I'm not from USA, so that's why I put the prices.

And the battery life? Tell me about it. :D

PD: I WILL NOT GOING TO JAILBREAK IT. ;)

How many gigs of music do you have?

Are you interested in a device that is more than just an iPod.

Or do you just want videos and some music?

Do you have Wifi in your house?

My girl HAD an 8gb nano, she loved it. But then she saw me and my touch, and fell in love with it. So she sold her nano, and then uprgaded to an 8gb touch! She doesn't have much music, 3gb...but she does watch Desperate Housewives and she now loves it. Plus she bought the app pack too! She loves the email!

Well I have a touch and have owned almost all the recent ipods(lol) ut if you want something the price of the 8 gig touch, go for an 80 gig classic. instead of having the nano in the equation.

The reason I am saying this is because the classic is not much more than the nano and the same amount less than the touch. And from what it seems you are going for the amount of storage(8 gigs) when price-wise compared to the nano you get about 72 more gigs of memory. So that'd be a reason to get a classic.

On the other hand The ipod touch is a very useful device. It can do a lot more than other media players. Internet(asuming you are around wifi) and other things. With the upcoming SDK(Software Development Kit) you will be able to download apps for the iPod Touch without jailbreaking(although they might cost something)

Also another thing that might be possible for the ipod touch(but I don't know if it's totally possible) is possibly external memory for it(via the dock) That is one thing about the SDK that could be a very good reason to get one: it may allow for extra hardware additions(eample: microphones)

I will love to go to a Classic, but the thing is the SCREEN. It's to small, just like the Nano, that's why I need better screen to watch videos, because my father is a little temperamental, and you may know that Nano and Classic have the same screen (I think) and I need something bigger to pay the dollars very well.

I don't have that storage, I don't like to download music and videos and DON'T listen/watch it, I just carry what I use and listen to it. So I don't need that much space, because what I will use 80GB in what? I can't buy nothing in the iTunes Store.

Thanks for your answers, bring more :D

The Classic has a bigger size than the nano but if you don't need that much memory and want a bigger screen than the classic, then go for the touch. As a device, it is way easier to use. And it has unlimited possibilities. Plus it is to check your email when you don't feel like getting up. So it is definitely worth it.

Since you are worried about cost I would say get the touch if you are going to truly utilize the pda functions it has now and will have in the future. If you are rarely going to go on the net, type documents, etc start looking at the other players. Now if you need a lot of storage space do not get the nano. So your left with the classic. If all your worried about is the screen size look around for a cheap external display with an ipod dock.

A big factor of the iPod touch is soon to be its use of SDK.

SDK will become vital to the iPod touch.

You will be able to run great games and programs.

Well, I won't buy a Classic, it's to small the screen, and I won't use 80GB!

I like Touch because of the SDK :D Keep going Thanks for all the answer so far!

Puffsnuff, I don't think there are any external displays out there that use the dock connector on the latest iPods yet. So for now, that's not a good idea. To my knowledge the only video connector that works is Apple's own component cable.

I own both a 3g nano and a 8 gig Touch and I'm happy with both of them. The video on the Nano is sharp and easily watchable. I'll be honest, I think video looks better on the Nano, but it still looks great on the Touch. If you are concerned about watching movies on such a small screen, I say don't be. I've watched a few movies without any issues or going cross eyed.

On the other hand unlike the Nano, the Touch is more like a true mini computer or as already said a PDA. You can do so much more on the Touch than you can with other iPods short of the iPhone.

I would also like to recomend that you stick to flash memory based players. Flash memory is much more durable. Ive owned 3 hard drive ipods and each one went bad after a year of use. That's not to blame Apple though. I used them almost daily at work on 9 hour shifts. That's a lot of stress to put on a small hard drive. Flash can withstand such usage much better.

Thanks for your opinion! But you know that the Nano is to small, but still have a great style and I know that watching videos in a small device could get better the quality, but still, I won't buy it, it's my father ;)

I know the Flash thing, that's why I wondering or the Nano or Touch because the Classic, contain hard disk that if it fall, it'll be damaged. That's why I like more the Nano and the Touch. And I think I like more the Touch now (thanks for the SDK info!) for that, because I can add more apps or games. Thanks :)
