Hey Guys,
I've had an ipod touch for some time now but last night i just bought a mac mini (love it). Any way i'm a newb to the mac.
First question is how can i back my ipod touch calander and contacts into my mac calander and contacts?
Second question can you refer any good programs or websites for apps for the ipod touch and mac intergration?
Thanks and i really appreciate all help.

I believe that the calendar should autosync with iCal and the contacts with the Address Book applications on your Mac mini.
As for applications, depends on if you jailbreak or not. If not, there's only one I can really think of besides iTunes and that's iPhone Remote (Telekinesis) on Googlecode. It allows you to access files, etc. on your Mac from your iPod Touch without having to actually install anything on your iPod Touch. Works pretty well, but the developers have stopped updating it :-(
If you jailbreak, there are obviously tools like iNdependence and so on. And CyberDuck if you need to SFTP into your iPod Touch.

Welcome to the Mac, and to the iPod touch.
I dig all of my Apple stuff, and the Mac mini is a slick little computer. People don't give it enough credit, but it really handles some decent work and gaming if you're good to it.
You may want to visit 123macmini.com for some tips, hints, and community forums.
I'd also direct you to VersionTracker.com for the latest in Mac freeware, shareware, and donationware.
As for the iPod touch, I suggest waiting to see what gets developed officially once the SDK is out. In the meantime you can use web apps, and you can make any web app or web page into an icon on your iPod touch's main page (press "+" and then choose the right option when you're on any web page).
A few things you might want to try on the touch:
* Make a direct link to Wikipedia on your main page.
* Go through Weather to find Yahoo! local information, like movie theaters and restaurants, and then make main page items for your favorite activities (I have a direct link to my local movie theater's Now Playing list, for example.)
* A nice set of dock-connecting speakers for portable use can be found at Amazon.com for under 15 bucks. They're under the heading "White Mini stereo speaker for Apple ipod" and they're GREAT for when you want to listen to an audiobook, watch a YouTube video or a movie, or do something else without having to wear the earbuds. They use the iPod's power and sound pretty nice for small speakers.
* Programs you'll want for getting video onto your iPod touch: Handbrake, iSquint, Mac the Ripper, and DVD2OneX.
* Recommended video settings for iPod touch: H.264 encoding, 480x320, 640kbps bitrate, 29.97 fps, 128kbps stereo audio, and don't bother with 2-pass for H.264 (it's pointless). With these settings, movies look GREAT on the touch's screen!
Have fun!
