Hi,

Apologies if this has already been asked and answered elsewhere.

I have just purchased the January software upgrade for my Touch. As I've forked out my hard-earned cash for it I want to ensure that, in the unlikely event that both my PC and my iPod go belly up at the same time, I am able to reinstall the upgrade from a backup.

Can anyone point me in the direction of how to backup the upgrade and restore it from said backup please?

Many thanks,

Ed.

iTunes automatically backs up all the files in your music, video, and podcast library. It also backs up the software you buy from iTunes (Software Upgrade).

Thanks, I just wanted to check where it backs them up to. I'd like to copy the files to an alternative location just in case anything should happen to my computer...

For Windows:
Note: You must be able to view hidden files. Open any folder > "Tools" > "Options" > Click the "View" Tab > Check the "Show Hidden Files and Folder"

The location of the Update Apps pack is in:
c:/documents and settings/ [your Administrative Name folder ]/Application Data/ Apple Computer/iTunes/Mobile Applications/ Ipod Touch App Pack 4A93.ipa
