EDGE network speeds in LA?

Can someone give me a rough idea of what the EDGE network speeds are for the LA or Orange County area. I was considering getting an iPhone, but if it is super slow... I'll stick with my iTouch and Wifi. With Wifi... I get around 900kb and was just trying to get a comparison.

Also... what are the EDGE speeds compared to 3G... if and when iPhone releases a 3G version.

I'm in orange county and the speeds arnt too bad. If your looking at near wifi speeds then you'll be disappointed, but its tolerable. The only time I slow down into unbearable is when I'm at work at Angel Stadium and I'm not sure if the system gets busy with 40,000 fans in one area but there is a definate slowdown
