I have tried everything for some reason my sound alert doesnt work when I recieve emails. I have tried using my earphones and speakers and have also played with the sound effects settings in the settings menu. I read the new and updated iPod touch feature guide which includes the new apps. It says go to settings then sound and turn on email sound alert. I dont have any sound menu under settings, I only have a sound effects menu and there is nothing about email sound alert. Does anyone have the same problem??
Thanks in advance
bump digity.
I have a 32GB with the 1.1.4. In the manual, on page 82 (chapter7 Settings) it states:
Settings for Email Messages:
>Sound.
I do NOT have a SOUND setting in the settings area for Mail.
What's the secret?

Mail sound only comes through the headphones. The manual left that over from the iPhone, I guess...

that makes sense.
although I think it's certainly possible for them to add this down the line. considering the touch wakes me up with an audible alarm clock. I can't imagine why it's not possible to play a chirp for an email alert;)

Also works through your speakers if you have it set to "both" although I just hear the music getting lowered for a few seconds no beep like when I have the earbuds on. By the way thanks for replying to my post even though it was like 6 weeks later.
