for the 1 year waranty.

lets say i a new ipod touch comes out sometime during the fall season, since that is still covered in my warranty could i just say something is wrong with my ipod and get the new one?

that would be dishonest, of course the cost of the service plan is all so a rip off

No it wouldn't work. Best Buy has changed the warranty on all their iPods. Before, back in 2003 and early 2004, they had what was called a product replacement plan. This meant that you could take your "busted" iPod into the store and they would give you a new one right off the shelf. Too many people were taking advantage of their warranty system so they now have a special iPod warranty. If your iPod breaks, they will try to repair it at your local store. If they can't repair it then they will send it off to Best Buy HQ and have them repair it. If they can't repair it then yes, you get a new iPod.

More than likely they will be able to fix it though. You can get a new iPod if and only if they can't fix your broken one or your bring your iPod in three times for the same problem (after them fixing it of course). So it is now much more of a hassle to try to con Best Buy.
