View Full Version : Switcheasy Silicone Biscuits - Top Pick (are you sure)???

I recently purchased a Switcheasy Mochi Silicone Biscuit (mostly due to the 'rave' review on here) and I must say that I'm very disappointed in it.

First of all, straight out of the box, the units screen cover has several horrible scuffs where someone didn't fully polish the protector (you can see the buff marks from what appears to be a dremel or other small buffing wheel).

Second, the dock protector does not fit in the dock slot securely. I had to slightly pinch the protector where it 'mates' to the dock contacts with needle nosed pliers.

Third, the unit appears to affect the clickwheel's functionality. It will cause erratic movement of the clickwheel from time to time. It will completely skip over the selection you are attempting to stop on (by at least two steps. It's almost like navigating drunk... dont ask). Once removed from the case, it functions normally.

I am not uber-picky and am willing to live with that, as scratches will appear over time anyway. I am, however concerned with the dock protector, as this unit will be on our boat, with all sorts of exposure to dust, sunscreen, cheeto stained fingers, and the like.

I notified Switcheasy of my dock connector issue (the one I was most concerned about, as it was the main reason I purchased this instead of a Malware sleeve), and they sent me the following email. This was on the 12th of this month. For the record, they ARE NOT aware of my scratches or the clickwheel issue.

Hi Eric,

We are out of town at mac world until the 21st,
This is the first that I have heard about this problem, If you can
send your address we will send some replacements
when we return

Switcheasy

I still haven't heard anything, but I have sent a followup email, and am currently awaiting a reply.

Anyone have any other issues with them?

Well,

Thanks for the 'wonderful' iLounge input. Good place to share info:rolleyes:

Anyway, for the record, Switcheasy DID send me a complete new replacement Silicone Mochi Biscuit for NO charge.

They stood behind their product.

Eric

Hi and welcome to iLounge and thanks for following-up with the positive feedback on your experience.

I personally have no direct experience with SwitchEasy myself, but it's good to hear that your particular problem was resolved.

I have a Silicon Biscuit, and it does have it's shortcomings. My screen protector also came slightly scoffed, and every now and again I have clickwheel sensitivity issues - especially when "power using" the clickwheel, like during a game of Peggle.

I picked it up mainly for the humor of the thing, but out of the cases I have laying around the house (a regular biscuit, a belkin remix metal and an incase rubber model), the Silicon Biscuit is my favorite simply because it's extremely comfortable to hold, the grip is great and it can handle a little bit of rain.

I didn't have very high expectations for the price, so for all intents and purposes, the Silicon Biscuit has exceeded my expectations.
