Hi one and all,

Looking for a bit of advise please.

I'm travelling from London to New york for a few days holiday in a couple of weeks and I was going to get myself a 16gb touch.

Can anyone recommend where is the cheapest and best place to buy from????

and

Is there any problems (warranty wise) when buying from another country????

and finally,

Is it poosible to stream movies to my new touch via the wifi????

Cheers and thanks in advance.

i bought mine 8gb from walmart for $279 the 16 gig was only 100 dollars more.....the cheapest i seen it was online at amazon.com for $249 but i didn't want to wait for shipping

you can stream videos through youtube on the itouch over wifi, works extremely well with the itouch and comes with it docked right on the home screen

Big box retailers (Best Buy, Walmart, Circuit City, etc.) are all going to be about the same price, give or take a few dollars. Generally you're only going to find killer deals online like the previous poster pointed out.

From what I understand (but don't quote me, as this is recollection of secondhand information), the original OEM one year warranty is global and honored anywhere in the world regardless of where it was purchased, but, if you want to purchase the extended warranty you will have to do so in the country in which you reside. Also, I hear that if customs decides to question the origin of purchase when you re-enter the UK that they may hit you with a VAT as well.

As far as streaming videos, there's YouTube as the above poster also pointed out. I have also found that videos on web sites will also stream as long as they are in a format that the iPod Touch supports (i.e. mp4). I've also heard that some YouTube videos posted on web sites will open up in the YouTube application when "clciked" on as well, but I haven't tried it out.

Hope this helps.

i was wondering about the streaming issue as I've got a few movies and stuff in itunes and was hoping there'd be a way of streaming them to the itouch!

if you have movies that are in itunes they can be put onto the itouch, anything that is in itunes can be transferred into the ipod via itunes

if it was downloaded any other way then it would have to be streamed

Actually, there are a couple services that will allow you to stream content - Orb and Simplify Media are two that I remember. Also, there was one (that doesn't appear to be in active development any longer) called iPhone Remote that would run as an app on the Mac and serve all the content on the computer via webpages. I could surf through my hard drives and open any movie or sound file and they'd stream wirelessly...
