When will the major studios like EA come out with games for the touch?

The SDK will be released this month. I doubt any big software producers will make games for the platform. I expect most of the developers will be small time developers looking to make a little cash.

If you jailbreak (sorry zardoz66), there are many games out there, some pretty cool like iPhysics engine. Solitaire, Bejeweled, Blackjack, emulators, etc...

i would definitaly have to disagree i think once the sdk is released any games that are for the iphone could definitaly be downloaded for the itouch as a third party app. they would be coded the same and the developer wouldn't have to do any extra work. So in that case i could definitaly see it happening.

I'm willing to bet that developers like PopCap will be all over the SDK. I could see games like Bejeweled and Zuma being excellent native iPhone/iPod Touch games.

no i understood you, there are alot of major companies that produce games for cell phones, hence why there is like guitar hero 3 for verizon phones......therefore going back to my original statement if they make them for the iphone im sure theyll be compatible for the itouch once 3rd part software is available

I'm not talking about games like bejeweled I know I can get those I mean games like Sonic and Doom that is on the other ipods. Oh you guys bring up a good point with iphone games working on the touch that would be nice to see they have some cool games for phones.

Well, just for reference before you start going "Woohoo! Doom! Sonic!" - it is very difficult to use the onscreen controls for many of the emulators and games. The biggest problem is there is no tactile feedback - you can't feel the controls - which makes it hard to keep your fingers on the virtual gamepad. Games that allow you to use the touch interface work much better - for example, solitaire where you're dragging cards from one stack to the next. "Twitch" games are very difficult.
