What do you loungers recommend for in car use - the FM option or the cassette adapter? Best brands? My cd player doesn't have an accessible AUX jack and I don't want to do any wiring as I will be trading this car soon. TIA

I reccomend cassette adapter over wireless fm, if you don't have aux-in jack. A Direct connection is always best.

The cassette adapter is definately better. The wire helps tremendously, since you'd get static over the radio, and the fidelity wouldn't be as high.
I use a cassette to hook up my iPod to the car stereo. My brother's car doesn't have a tape deck, so he had to get the fm transmitter, and he complains about the static.
Hope that helped.

I tried the itrip and was a pain to get working. After messing with it for 2 hours, I got it to come in barely and sounded awful. I decided to pay the $100 for a unilink to hook up to the back of my Sony receiver and that way it will plug directly into the back of it with monster cables so it will sound good next week when I get it hooked up.

My iTrip works perfectly. Don't bother with the installation CD. Go straight to http://www.griffintechnology.com/downloads/software/current/iTrip_iTunes_Win_1-0.exe
to download the latest software, and it will work fine.

what are you guys talking about?????? why would a casette be better than a transmitter? the casette is low-fi and the radio has no static because the signal, while low-power, is only travelling about 6-24 inches at most!

I say go with the iTrip. I tried all the Belkin crap and this is by far the best! Just plug it in immediately and tune to 87.9 (default) until you get home! Then go to www.griffintechnology.com and go to software and download the one for windows and iTunes. Inport and you are ready to go. By the way if you are using MusicMatch, just go with iTunes. I have a lifetime subscription and now I am done with MM. I bought mine from www.microcenter.com , they are $26.24 right now on special! Good luck!

Folks,

FYI, Its a fact that the frequency response of a decent cassette player is significantly better than FM radio. And its irrelevant how good the Ipod signal in is, as what comes out of the car stereo system can't be better than its worst "in action conponent."

So, if you really care about the quality of the sound, not the coolness of the accessory, go wired cassette or best of all, but more costly, direct input harness.

Plus for areas with a lot of FM radio channels, it's hard to use an FM modulator that isn't hardwired into the antenna. With the ones I've used in the past, I haven't had too much success and that's one of the reasons I've got an Aiwa head unit in my car with a line-in on the face. It works great.

Since this is just an output is there any reason I can't just plug in the one I had with my old CD player? Or is this a stupid question? I'm not flashy, I'm just cheap.

There would be no problem in doing that. That's what I was thinking of doing :)

Hmmm I got nothing against shopping but 19.99 seems okay for a charger without the rest of that crap. I love it. Is it me or have we all gone over the edge buying jackets and sport's outfits for this thing? I'm starting to worry. It's only a matter of time before it has a name and I lose freinds.

you're sure this won't cause some kind of meltdown and explosion right...

My iTrip works flawlessly! But.. we're in the deep 'burbs and the strong nearby FM stations er few an' far between. That said, I have a cassette adapter, left over from an earlier ( XM Radio ) installation an' I'm going to try it, . . . someday! As long as the XM is around, digital or recorded material of any kind is a backup. Sorta sounded like an XM commercial, huh? Hmmm.....
Did I say,"I LOVE my Pod?" I do, I do!

What about the Monster ICarPlay - Can it be used with the mini?

Most likely, yes.
