I bought a extended warrenty with circuit city...and finally after a lot of iPods messing up on me(just sent back my 3rd Ipod)their supposed to send me a gift card worth the price of my iPod so I can get a brand new one. I'm considering buying a iPod Touch instead of another classic(gonna get the 16GB)but I wanted to know a couple things...

1)Do you guys think that their gonna add a 1.5 version with more memory in about half a year? If so how much you think their gonna add?

2)Would it be better to just buy the classic iPod and wait till next year or just get one now?

3)With the developers kits comming out, do you think their gonna be able to add iPod Touch to Phone Txt and AIM/MSM/Whatever?

4)Do you think if they upgrade to 1.5 will the battery life increase(I've heard of special lithium ion batterys that are special(their still being reseached)but that their supposed to like triple battery life and lifespan...do you think apple might incorperate this idea?

5)Should I just get a 80 GB Classic and wait for a better iPod Touch and use both....the touch for normal usage and the 80GB for holding alot of music and videos?

6)Can you add widgets from your Mac(or download them onto a pc and move them over)to you Ipod Touch?

Also...just wanted to say I feel bad for the people whose iPods are bricked like mine cause of the 1.1.3 update(at least I think that's what screwed up my 30GB 5th Gen Video)

1. Wait about 8-10 months and there will either be a new generation iPod touch or an updated model with better battery life, firmware, and maybe a higher capacity. That won't happen until September/October/November of this year though.

2. I don't know, that is up to you. If you want to carry around absolutely everything in your library then yes, get an iPod classic. If you don't mind juggling a few things here and there then the iPod touch has more than enough. I have a library size that is over 100GB and I don't mind squeezing it down to 14.7GB for my iPod touch.

3. Phone text? Don't you need a cellphone for that? The iPod touch doesn't have the appropriate hardware to read cellular signals. They could potentially add IM applications though which would go through wi-fi only.

4. They won't release a 1.5G iPod touch. You can concider the newer models with the 1.1.3 firmware and new applications to be 1.5G. Even if Apple released a 1.5G iPod touch, it won't be for at least 8 more months. As for the batteries, Apple would incorporate it into the iPod touch if and only if they could start manufacturing the units around the summer. Remember that Apple starts making these iPods pretty early on around the late summer time in order to prep for a September/October/November release. I doubt Apple would use them since they are still in development phase.

5. Answered above.

6. No.

Call Apple about the firmware update. If a firmware update was truly the cause of your broken iPod then Apple will fix/replace it (with a refurbished unit, NOT a new one) no matter how old it is or if it is out of warranty.

Just wanna clarify one thing...you don't need a phone to txt message to phones...their are services that let you txt from pcs or in this care the internet in general to other peoples phones...but it would be kinda stupid to txt them if they can't txt you back...that's the one and only thing the Iphone has that the Ipod touch doesn't that I want

You can always e-mail cellphones. All you have to do is have the cellphone text message your e-mail address and then you have the appropriate address. The iPhone uses test messaging as a normal cellphone would. It doesn't have an application that lets you go onto a wi-fi network and text message other cellphones.

well, I owned a classic before and I returned it because it was too low in volume (european version) and the sound quality was bad.

now that I own a touch (louder since you can hack it) I have to say that the sound quality is better but not as good as I thought the ipod sound would be.
but besides the, the touch is a really really impressive device and jailbroken can do very very much. that's why I sticked with it.
