im just wonderin... whats the cheapest way to get my ipod playing in my car. it doesn't have to be integrated into the sound system, it can be like an FM transmitter or something. there are so many ways to do this and its kind of overwhelming, and i need a cheap solution.

I second that.
Tape adapter. It'll sound very good - and MUCH better than any FM transmitter.

Yea, if your car audio comes with an Auxiliary Input, I prefer to use a cable.
Otherwise I suggest you to use a FM Transmitter. Becasue for many situation, FM transmitter with short distance is good enough. It's really cheap I have found something in the internet, hope it may help you.

From personal experience I can say FM transmitters don't always seem to work so well, though it really does depend. However a tape adapter can be relatively cheap, I was thinking of getting one for a while and when I ran into a brand name one (Phillips) for $10 at walmart I figured, what the heck and got it. The volume is low and if you raise the car volume with the tape if gets crackly, but if you put the iPod near the highest volume you get exceptional sound quality, just my personal experience anyway.
