question about importing and software

I live in Ireland(Europe!) and i'm gonna import a US ipod mini. I've been reading the similar posts about charging and what not and i'm very satisfied, my question however, is will there be any software incompatibilities with the US ipod and my euro PC setup?

Also, is it safe to use standard USB(not USB2.0) when transferring data?
Plus if anyone wants to point out anything i might not have thought of i'd appreciate it greatly.
Gonna buy from datavisioncomputer.com - if anyone has any thoughts on them i'd be happy to hear it!

Yes, although transfers will be slower compared to either USB 2.0 or Firewire. I'd recommend installing a firewire card in your PC, they can be purchased for $10US and up, and will greatly speed the tranfer speed.
