Right now since there are NO cases for the new Ipod
that are worth purchasing. I went to Best Buy and picked up
some Writeright (Toshiba e310-e740) sized Micro thin Screen
protectors. I covered the back and screen of the new Ipod
with the protectors.
Basically this is like tape but it wont harm the Ipod, You can see through it pefectly. Its almost invisible.
The best thing is it retains the small size of the New Ipod without having to get a big bulky case.
Thanks to another user here for the Idea.

Fits my 15 gigger fine (it's a pretty good fit believe it or not) :) ... and she rests quite nicely in there. No scratches as of yet.
I don't have the patience for covering it up with the other stuff. :P

Saran wrap! Just wrap the iPod in saran wrap; has worked great for many of us.

I've been using screen protectors from my past PDA's. It's not a case, but they work really well.

googled it and here you go!
about saran wrap (http://inventors.about.com/library/inventors/blsaranwrap.htm)
like all of those annoyingly useful inventions we can't do without like photocopying and tissue, people like to call it by the original brand name (i.e. xerox and kleenex)

yep! well I use it to keep food on their plates while they are in the fridge.. remember there was some advert some years back when they wrapped cling flim on a cup of orange juice and tossed it in the air.. and the juice stayed where it was supposed to be.
useful stuff, this. well believe there are two types of cling wrap the normal ones and the freezer ones.. the freezer ones are thicker and perhaps slightly better for ipod wraps.

Actually after a while saran wrap got annoying-wasn't permanent, air bubbles etc... I discovered using clear packaging tape (the heavy duty stuff) and it is perfect. First of all you can't even tell it is on, unlike the saran wrap (because is is so thin) but it is mush mush more durable than saran wrap. It protects the iPod great. And if you were to compare an iPod with and without the tape you would have a tough time differing between the two! It works great. Try it!
Edit: After having it on for a while I took it off to see if there was a residue and (though it is very hard to peel it off) there is no residue at all! This is the ultimate solution IMO...

Just spend the money on the Writerrights
Packaging tape after a short while will destroy the Ipod.
Not a smart idea...

I still believe the two best cases out there at the moment are the Apple case (gasp) and the Marware CEO Classic (for new iPod).

I am curious as to what makes the Saran Wrap "ghetto"?

It will not destroy the iPod. I have had tape on my Sony Clie for a year, and taken it off. There is no damage or residue. And I did try writerights and I really don't like them because they are not completely transparent. There is a little bit of texture and you can completely tell it is there. With the tape you cannot see it at all.
