I have tried both a Sony and Belkin cassette tape adapter in my 96 Ford. My cassette tape player hits the auto reverse function after only a few seconds of play time. When I try to manually switch back to side 1, it again automatically switches back to side 2.

The iPod only plays from tape player when it is set to side 1, but I cannot keep the car stereo from automatically switching to side 2.

Has anyone had this problem and if so, have you found a simple solution?

The adapter can be "flipped" to allow its "other side" to play; this may satisfy your tape deck. There will be a pop-up cover or some small screws near the output cable; when removed you can move the cable to stick out the other end of the cassette. Put it back together, and you can insert it "upside down" (i.e. if the A side was up before, now the B side will be up).

Or, your tape deck may have an auto-reverse sensor in it that reverses after a couple of seconds of silence. This feature can usually be turned off; check a manual.

Or, your deck just may be getting twitchy in its advancing years ;-)
