Hi,
Im interetsted in these pair of headphones for use with my iPhone, ive read quite about the ER6i's but as the hf2's are a fairly recent release im finding it difficult to find any reviews or comparisons to other models.
Can anyone who has tried the hf2's give a review or if anyone has experienced both models give a comparison?
Thanks
Scott

According to the ETY site, te HF2 is an ER4 for the iPhone.
The ER4 is been out for 10 years and unchanged. Reviews of the ER4 are everywhere.
The ER4 (HF2 then) is, 100%, definitely above the ER6 when it comes to sonic quality.

thats a fair enough assumption but may not be completely accurate
the hf2's apparently have a "Response accuracy of Etymotic's ER-4 earphones" but it does not suggest the tonal quality are the same or that "the HF2 is an ER4 for the iPhone".

Then u will have to be patient for someone to actually get a pair.
Anywhoo, if u have an iPhone, but don't want to carry a bulky adapter AND need a mic... what are your choices?

the choices at the minute are futuresonic FS1 buds with apple iphone cable (with button/mic),
ER6i' buds with apple iphone cable (with button/mic) (both via ultimate buds)
or
hf2's with their own button and mic

I was thinking between the Ultimate Ear Superfi. 4vi's and the Etymotic hf2 for my iPhone. So I hope someone gets the hf2's pretty soon, even though there is website that did try them out for a few minutes at CES and they said they sounded "amazing"

Well, u asked about an Etymotic comparison, u had not mentioned the other phones.
Anywhoo, adapter cable? :shake: I personally hate them, bulky, inconvinient to stash/uncoil. But hey.

I had a pair of ER6Is and a pair of iPhone earbuds. Bought a soldering iron. Did a bareley decent job of not melting the 6I bodies to do the ultimatebuds mod.
Worked for a while, but failed after recieving a tug/jolt while mowing the lawn.
Ordered the HF2s with next day delivery.
Bottom line: They are totally better than the 6Is.
As far as I'm concerned that makes them better than ultimatebuds. But I dont think they are fully ER4s either. I dont see the same twisted cables and why would the hf2 cost less (and have more functionality)

I was actually going to buy the hf2's tonight but I found out this morning that they are sold out already. So now I'm on the waiting list. Consider yourself very lucky

While I loved everything else about my ER4's, they did make me look geeky, with wires sticking out almost perpendicular to my head so that people on the subway would stare at me like I was Frankenstein. When I finally managed to break them (careless while replacing the flanges), I got the 6i's, and was pleased to find the design allowed the cables to come down flush against my ears. Much, much more inconspicuous.
Now, the pictures make it look like the hf2's are closer to the ER4's in design than to the 6i's. Can anybody who has them tell me whether I'll have to go back to scaring people on the train if I get them?
