Weird - I was copying an album over (I'm on manual sync) and about halfway through, iTunes said that it couldn't continue copying because it could not find the disk. After closing that window, it popped up two more times. When they closed, it seemed that the Touch was still listed in iTunes and could still be read. I thought it must have been a temporary loss of connection somehow.
Tried again and the same error came up. Then, while still connected, the Touch restarted. Vanished from the iTunes listing until it loaded up again and all of the music and video was gone. For about 10 seconds there was a considerable chunk of memory listed as 'other' but that then dropped. It seemed to retain my photos and web settings etc.
I had bought the new apps but couldn't sync them because I didn't want to ahave to completely rebuild my library. Well, seems my Touch made the decision for me because all the new apps are now present and correct.
Anyone have any idea what might have happened? Is there something I should be looking out for? If I rebuild my library and this happens again, I'd be gutted.
