Agreed. I guess people forget about all those times long ago. Apple would include a case, a wired remote, a AC adapter, a dock, and a firewire cable with the 3G iPod. Then Apple released the 4G iPod and only included the case, dock, a USB2.0 cable, and a firewire cable. Apple released the 5G iPod including only a cheap slip case and a USB2.0 cable but at least they included iTunes on CD. Now all Apple gives are USB cables with their iPods along with the standard earbuds that were always included. Not only that but now Apple doesn't include the black foam pads that go over the earbuds making them much more comfortable.

I think people are forgetting that Apple has included less and less with each iPod purchase. Then again, iPod prices have come down dramatically. I payed $599 for my 3G 40GB iPod back in 2003 and now I payed $399 for a 16GB iPod touch. The most expensive iPod model is $200 cheaper than what it was 4 years ago. The cost reductions had to come from somewhere whether it was the exclusion of included accessories or the reduction in manufacturing costs (probably a combination of both).

I don't agree with the $20 upgrade price and neither did anyone at MacWorld but everyone is forgetting that this is Apple here and their track record shows that this is nothing new.

the black foam pads i can totally understand taking those away, I would loose both pairs in a day, they never stayed on

the earbuds with the touch are somehow more comfy though..
