The update that you pay for or the free update? Either way you need to download and install iTunes version 7.6. Then simply plug your iPod into your computer and iTunes should pop up. Click on the update button in the main iPod window within iTunes. Your iPod needs to be updated to firmware version 1.1.3. After that is done, simply click on the iTunes Store icon in iTunes and then you will see an option to purchase the $20 update on the main page (it is smack dab in the middle of it). Follow the instructions there. The key points are that you need iTunes 7.6 and your iPod touch needs to be running firmware 1.1.3.

I'm not sure how to do it. I followed their instruction and it isn't working. Not sure what instructions you are following, but it is fairly straightforward. let me recap for you.

1). First, you'll need to upgrade from iTunes 7.5 to 7.6. You can 'check for upgrades' under the 'Help' menu, and it will launch the upgrade from there.

2). Once you have upgraded to iTunes 7.6, connect your iPod. Once your iPod is recognized, simply select your iPod and click the 'Check for Upgrades' icon, and follow the prompts.

3). Now that iTunes, and your iPod are upgraded to 7.6 and 1.1.3 respectively, you can then purchase the 5 apps (Mail, Notes, Google Map, Stocks and weather), but to get these apps, you'll have to pay $20 bucks.

Hope this helped.

I'm also experiencing problems here. I've already installed the latest firmware. I also purchased the application pack. As per the instructions, I clicked on Sync - in my iTune (DEVICE View) - but nothings happened!

i tried all of that. the thing is, im deployed and i only get to go downtown every once and awhile. Thats pretty much the only time i can get on the itunes store or update my laptop. sucks man. it took forever long to get the update, both itunes and for the ipod. that when it finally came down to downloading the key for the apps i did it all in a rush. i know i bought it because i finally got my paypal reciept email. so i know i have it somewhere. i just dont know what to do?
