Had to play with it a bit. But after configuring the incoming and outgoing servers and their port numbers I've got the Touch Mail App working with my ISP and Outlook Express. Nice!

It sounds nice but too bad you have to pay for it.

do you need to have a wifi signal in order to use it?

No the mail just pops out of thin air and into your touch without the use of the internet..........yes you need a wifi connection.

Yes, wi-fi has to be turned on. The mail app is awesome. That alone was worth the $20 dollars.

Tools>Accounts>Properties. From there you can set-up your incoming and outgoing servers and port numbers to put into the touch Mail settings. My mail is set-up using POP3. Hope this helps. Let me know

You have to select POP in the Touch Mail settings.

Sorry if I seem like a pain but I still cant seem to find where you change it to POP

For those of you with Yahoo Mail accounts, how does the Mail app work? I use Yahoo Mail, but don't pay for POP3 service. iPhone users can access Yahoo Mail via IMAP on an Apple server. Is it the same way with the iPod Touch version of Mail?

Note that the Jailbreak version of the Mail app can't use Apple's IMAP server for Yahoo Mail, which is my only issue with the Jailbreak version and is something I would pay $20 to fix.

(Or is the new Mail app available to download via installer.app?)

When you are in the email configuration page, scroll to the top of the page, and you'll see three buttons. One for imap, one for pop, and I can't recall the third one.

All I know is that the jailbroken version of the mail app doesn't work with my yahoo mail account and the official $20 pack one does perfectly.

That's my issue. I want to know if the January Update version of Mail is available through installer.app, instead of the hacked iPhone version of Mail.

Looks like I'll be waiting a good long time to update to 1.1.3 and get Yahoo Mail on my iPod Touch.

Cool. More resources for hackers to implant viruses and brick all these iPod Touches. :D

I agree that the new Mail app works great. I found out that with the new revision of the mail app that setting up Gmail's IMAP is now dead easy! All you have to do is choose Gmail and it automatically uses the IMAP settings.. In the past this wasn't the case, but now it is!

Hi could someone help me, I am trying to use my hotmail account in Mail, but I don't know what settings I have to input, like whether I use IMAP, POP, or Exchange and where to find my incoming and outgoing servers details. I am using Outlook 2007, but don't know where to look for the settings, can anyone help?

Since Hotmail uses a HTML server not a pop or imap server, you cant use the mail app to check your email. Unless....you have a hotmail plus account and pay $20 per year (may become free later this year) so that you can check yout hotmail through a pop server or you can use this application http://www.mailcoaster.com and go to this webiste on your ipod touch or ofcourse you can use your safari browser to go to hotmails address.

hmm that's a shame. I can't seem to get hotmail working on safari, but that Mailcoaster seems a fairly good alternative. Thanks anyway ipodlover

Or you can go to Gmail.com on your Touch and get the iPhone version of Gmail for free. It's awesome and doesn't cost $20.
