Hey guys! So i had my ipod touch for about 2 months, maybe 3 the latest.
It has scratches on the back, where that shiny "metal" thing is. Scartches and Scuffs. They really bother me. Not to the extreme, but i would pay to get them off. Is there any product that can remove the scratches? I heard of a product called "apple sauce" What does that do? Once i get the scratches off (if i do) im deffinitly buying a screen protector. Thanks!

There are a couple of products to get scratches off the back of an iPod touch. Note that the front of the iPod touch uses a glass screen and scratches on there cannot be removed. Products like Braso (it is a polishing chemical that can easily be purchased from a store like Wal-Mart), Apple Sauce, and iCleaner can remove or reduce scratches on the metal backing. Note that it takes a lot of work to do that though. You first have to apply a deep scratch remover chemical and that causes all sorts of small scratches. You just keep rubbing that in until the major scratches go away and the minor ones kind of go away. Then you apply the polishing stuff and you have to rub that in. It will create even more scratches and then they will eventually go away.

I applied iCleaner to my 5G 60GB iPod once and the whole process took me about 3 hours and my arms were sore after doing it. How did the scratches get on the back of your iPod anyway? Do you not have it in a case?

alright thank you

aw the scratches come easily with the metal backing.
i get most of them , from using the cleaning cloth, i just get the finger prints off and there like 10 little scratches.

i think i will go with applesauce. so far seems to be the best buy

I carefully applied clear packing tape to the back the moment i opened it as to avoid bubbles and you can barely tell it's there. Of course i then slid my touch into a case, but this way i'll know that the shiny metal will look factory new as long as i have it. The technique really added to the value of my old 4G photo once i sold it on eBay after two years of ownership, because not only is a completely unmarred back rare, but also indicates that it was owned by someone who cared for it. There are protective films you can buy, but who wants to spend $10-$15 on something that costs pennies when clear packing tape works just as well.
