I thought you could, but can't seem to find an adapter? I wanted to hook my ipod into my machine at work, but maybe you can't?

The adapter for the v3 iPod is not out yet, and you will have to buy it when it comes out. The reason Apple is charging extra for the cable is that they didn't want to charge everyone for a cable, that only a few would use.

I think it is dumb that they are charging extra for the USB cable. You feel that they are doing so because it would not be widely used but this is not the case. If USB 2.0 was supported out of the box it would be incredibly popular due to the fact that many newer PC's have a USB 2.0 card whereas they don't typically have firewire.

Is there a link to buy this cable? I don't have the newest version of the ipod. I have the 2nd generation not 3rd. Thanks!

2nd generation ipods do not support USB and never will. They don't have the necessary hardware built into the ipod to support USB. You will have to buy a 3rd generation plus the optional USB cable to be able to hook an ipod up to a computer that only has USB ports.
