I have the Sennheiser CX300, and I'd like to take better care of them than I did with the stock headphones. I usually just wrap the headphone cord around the iPod and stuff it in my pocket, but there must be a better way to take care of it.

Also, should I be cleaning the silicone tips with water, and if so, how often?

Thanks for your advice.

I use a small plastic food container to keep my headphones in. I have some foam stuck to the lid, and some in the base. I coil the headphone cable loosely and put them in that. It is strong enough to protect them fairly well.

It all depends. In a perfect world, everyone would have a case for their headphones and keep them safely wrapped in it. Realistically, not many people do this. Like I have an old Bose case for my Bose IE's that is meant to protect the headphones. I only used it while on vacation since I wasn't listening to my iPod that much. Usually, I just take the iPod and the headphones themselves and put them in my pocket, with the headphone wire dangling down my leg. I just have to make sure it doesn't get caught on anything.

The best way to protect them is to get a case of some sort. Either buy one, or "McGyver" one out of something else.
